Weddings - Birthdays - Special Events - Lullabies - Memorials - Proposals - Songs to Encourage and Uplift Special Events

My custom song journey began with my own wedding

27 years ago, I met my husband and only 7 days later we eloped! We had a wedding 5 months later and I wrote and sang him a song about how we met, and my hope for the future. This remains one of my favorite songs I have ever written.

But really, I guess it began even earlier, when I would write songs for my friends in college. They would ask me to write silly songs for them on the fly. I love how music can bring people closer together.

I think my favorite song during that time was writing a special one to encourage my friend when she was having a rough day. At that moment, I realized just how beautiful and powerful songs could be when they are written for someone you love.

Your Story To Song Timeline

Step 1

We start with a zoom call where you can tell me all about your vision for a custom song.

During that conversation I can get a feel for your own voice and how you as an individual would normally express what it is you want to say. Some of the best ideas come from conversations.

I feel like forms can inhibit creativity and don’t give opportunity for important things to spark that could have a big influence on the song, allowing us to create something deeply personal to you. (Always authentic, never AI generated.)

Step 2

I start writing this song and if I feel like I need additional input, I will reach out. Once the song is complete, I play it for you on another zoom call.

If I don’t make you cry, we can start over again. Just kidding. But truly, be prepared. It may be pretty emotional!

This is your chance to requests any changes.

The Grand Finale

Your one-of-a kind song will be recorded by me, either in a simple heartfelt vocal and guitar, vocal and piano, or in a studio with a full band, depending on what we decide upon.

It will be delivered to you in a digital file and shared to streaming platforms, so you can share it with friends and family.

Get To Know Sarah Better

Music has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started playing violin at a young age because I would sit and listen to classical music on our record player, and it touched me so deeply that I wanted to be a part of that world. I played in orchestra in junior high and high school, was the jazz band vocal soloist in high school, and sang in choir on and off during high school and for a year in college.

The person who inspired me and taught me to sing was my mom, who was an amazing vocal soloist who sang in choirs, symphonies, weddings, and at church.

My senior year of high school, I was asked to lead worship for the junior high group at our church. So I took my $243 of babysitting money, bought myself a guitar, taught myself to play, and a couple of weeks later started leading worship. Since I had always written poetry and loved to express myself through writing, I naturally began writing songs.

My freshman year of college, I started playing shows and music festivals. When I was 21, in a crazy set of circumstances, I ended up performing for Chris Isaak's entire band. His manager asked if I wanted him to manage me, but I felt like I didn't want to be part of the music industry. I still kept writing and performing through the years, and even made a couple of jingles for commercials. I have taught guitar and voice, played on worship teams, sang at conferences, weddings, led music for a Christian youth camp, and performed at special events.

The desire to share music has never left me. It has been a source of confusion and sadness for me over the years, not knowing exactly how to share my gift with people. So, about eight years ago, I started playing music live on Facebook regularly. It was amazing to get to play for people and have this intimate way of sharing music, even though it was online. Hearing how much my music touched those people was so fulfilling! But I have fought an autoimmune disorder for the last 23 years, and it became difficult for me to continue playing daily.

Now that I have healed dramatically, I'm able to hold and play my guitar and sing again, and I'm ready to get back out there and share music with the world. I love to write songs about people and to use my music to help people say the things they feel through music. To express, in a poetic way, something deeply personal to them.

So, I have decided to begin recording and releasing all of the music I have written over the years, and begin taking commissions for custom songs. Helping me are my son, who is now an accomplished musician on multiple instruments and a music producer; my daughter-in-law, who is a brilliant cinematic-style music composer on piano; and other talented musicians.

I want to share the gift God has given me to write deeply personal, moving music to bless others.
